Noch bis vor wenigen Wochen war uns die Provinz Nordbrabant, kurz Brabant genannt, völlig unbekannt. Die Region grenzt an Limburg, Gelderland, Zuid-Holland und Zeeland. Wer auf dem Weg zum Strandurlaub in Zeeland ist, kann hier einen Stop einlegen, um die Gegend zu erkunden. In Brabant findet ihr kleine Altstädte wie Heusden, Breda und Nuenen mit beeindruckender Architektur aus dem Mittelalter, aber auch Städte wie ’s-Hertogenbosch oder Eindhoven.
Der größte Stolz der Region sind die Spuren des Malers Vincent Van Gogh, der einige Jahre hier verbrachte und Inspiration für seine Werke fand. Erfahrt hier unsere Highlights und Tipps für Fotomotive in Brabant.
Until a few weeks ago, the province of North Brabant, Brabant for short, was completely unknown to us. The region is close to Limburg, Gelderland, Zuid-Holland and Zeeland. If you are on your way to a beach holiday in Zeeland, you can stop here to explore the area. In Brabant you will find small old towns such as Heusden, Breda and Nuenen with impressive architecture from the Middle Ages, but also cities like ’s-Hertogenbosch or Eindhoven. The greatest pride of the region is traces of the painter Vincent Van Gogh, who spent several years here and found inspiration for his works. Instagram Hotspots in ’s-Hertogenbosch
Die Hauptstadt der Provinz ist ’s-Hertogenbosch (auch Den Bosch genannt).
Unser Highlight war der historische Hafen. Er erinnert an die Architektur aus Amsterdam: Kleine Häuser säumen das Wasser, auf dem Hausboote schaukeln.

Our highlight was the historic harbor. It is reminiscent of the architecture of Amsterdam.
Fotografierenswert fanden wir auch die Ecke rund um die Uilenburgstraatje. In einem Eckhaus sich ein Antikladen mit schweren Holztüren und bunten Fensterläden, eine enge Gasse verläuft direkt am Kanal entlang.Auf der Binnendieze kann man eine Boots-Rundfahrt durch die Festung machen und schippert dabei zum Teil durch Tunnel unter der Altstadt hindurch. Ein Geheimtipp ist der Achter de Bijenkorf, einer der ältesten Innenhöfe der Stadt. Bitte nehmt Rücksicht auf die Anwohner, wenn ihr hier ein Foto macht. Für die Food- und Interior Fotografen unter euch empfehlen wir den Blumenladen samt Café OERWOUD eine grünen Oase in der Vughterstraat.
We also liked the corner around Uilenburgstraatje : There is an antique shop with heavy wooden doors and colorful shutters, a narrow lane runs along the canal. On the Binnendieze you can take a boat tour through the fortress and go through some tunnels under the old town. An insider tip is the Achter de Bijenkorf, one of the oldest courtyards in the city. Please take care of the residents if you take a picture here. For the food and interior photographers among you, we recommend the flower shop and café OERWOUD a green oasis in the Vughterstraat.
Instagram Hotspots in Nuenen
Nuenen liegt zwischen Eindhoven und Helmond. Hier hat Van Gogh besonders viele Spuren hinterlassen: 1883 kehrte der Maler für einige Jahre in die Heimatstadt seiner Eltern zurück. Die Motive, die er vor mehr als 100 Jahren malte, sind heute noch erhalten. Die Windmühle de Roosdonck im Gerwenseweg wird in den Abendstunden in ein warmes Licht getaucht.
Nuenen is located between Eindhoven and Helmond. Here van Gogh has left many traces: in 1883, the painter returned to his parents‘ hometown for a few years. The motifs that he painted more than 100 years ago are still preserved today. The windmill de Roosdonck in the Gerwenseweg is bathed in a warm light at sunset.
Hinter ihr geht die Sonne unter – ein tolles Motiv, besonders, wenn auf der Wiese davor der Klatschmohn blüht. Bestimmt ist die Mühle im Winter auf einer schneebedeckten Wiese genau so sehenswert. Sehenswert ist auch der Marktplatz mit seinen angrenzenden Häusern. Van Goghs Spuren findet ihr in der ganzen Stadt verteilt, wie z.B. das Pfarrhaus am Berg 26, das alte Weberhaus oder die Coller Wassermühle (Richtung Eindhoven) Wer sich für die Geschichte van Goghs interessietrt, kann alles auf den Infotafeln nachlesen oder eine geführte Tour beim „Vincentre“ buchen.
The mill is a great motive, especially when the poppy flowers are in full bloom. We can imagine the mill is just as pretty in winter on a snow-covered meadow. Worth seeing is the market square with its adjoining houses. Van Gogh’s traces can be found throughout the city, such as the parsonage on Berg 26, the old weaver house or the Coller watermill (close to Eindhoven) If you are interested in the history of van Gogh, you can read everything on the information boards or book a guided tour at the „Vincentre“.
Instagram Hotspots in Heusden
Die Gemeinde Heusden liegt nur 20 Autominuten von der Provinzhauptstadt ’s-Hertogenbosch entfernt am Fluss Maas. Sie war einst die erste Festungsstadt der Region. Heusden wurde kunstvoll restauriert und hat daher unglaublich viele Fotomotive zu bieten, wie die alten Häuschen – die einem Freilichtmuseum oder einer Filmkulisse gleichen. Das hübscheste Fotomotiv findet ihr direkt am Marktplatz dem Vismarkt. Ein altes Ladengeschäft mit der Aufschrift „Zigarren“ an der Ecke zur Engstraat.
The municipality of Heusden is only 20 minutes by car from the provincial capital ’s-Hertogenbosch on the river Maas. It was once the first fortified city in the region. Heusden has been artfully restored and therefore has an incredible number of photo opportunities to offer, such as the old houses – which resemble an open-air museum or a movie set. The prettiest motive you will find directly on the market square the Vismarkt. An old shop with the inscription „Cigars“ on the corner to Engstraat.
Auch die Ridderstraat ist pittoresk, hier findet ihr bei der Hausnummer 23 eins der ersten restaurierten Häuser aus dem Jahr 1605. Durch die Stadtmauer am Marktplatz habt ihr einen tollen Blick auf das kleine Hafenbecken, mit einer Windmühle im Hintergrund. Auch die Bäckerei „Bakkertje Deeg“ ist ein Foto wert. Hier drin fühlt ihr euch wie im Paris der 50er Jahre.
Also the Ridderstraat is picturesque, here you will find one of the first restored houses from the year 1605. Through the city wall on the market square you have a great view of the small harbor basin, with a windmill in the background. Also the bakery „Bakkertje Deeg“ is worth a photo. In here you feel like in the Paris of the 50s.
